STEP ONE: GATHER YOUR MATERIALS
1. Stumptown Coffee Hair Bender beans, fresh is best!
2. Porlex Mini-Mill burr grinder.
“You guys know about the Inverted Method? The plunger is on the bottom.”
4. Paper filters (some included with AeroPress kit).
STEP TWO: ACCESS THE COFFEE
STEP THREE: PREPARE THE BREW
Place one (1) paper filter into the AeroPress.
Dose your coffee. Adjust this to your personal tastes, but figure about 15g of coffee for every 8oz cup.
Grind the coffee in your Porlex grinder. Like the dosage, your grind setting is up to personal preference—but it should be fairly fine for an AeroPress.
Add the ground coffee to the AeroPress.
Add water to the AeroPress
Wait for the coffee to steep.
How long is a matter of controversy. Start with somewhere around two-and-a-half to three minutes. Stirring once is recommended.
Plunge the plunger. Smoothly and firmly.
You should hear a hissing sound, plunging for about 20 seconds.
BONUS ADVANCED TECHNIQUE: THE INVERTED METHOD
Little things make a big difference.”
Notes: “Okay, so, one-out-of-ten, I give this coffee a 10.1. Wait, I want to retract that because you don’t want perfection. Perfection messes everything up. Let’s call it a 9. Two hours later I I feel golden.””
