FIRST MARSHAL LIEUTENANT | CORPORAL

Pictured are members of the 7th Alpini Regiment, an infantry unit dedicated to mountain warfare, who were assigned along the course of Stage 20’s final climb, Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Of note is blue insignia, indicating a paratrooper. The Giro featured many such soldiers along its route, mixed in with your typical Polizia, course marshals, volunteers, and at times unofficial groups of locals keeping watch.
